Beauty that grows from hardship.

The thistle isn't polite. Not really a "bouquet" flower, if you know what I mean. It’s sharp, protective, and unapologetically itself. And yet, at its center, there’s a bloom so delicate it almost doesn’t make sense.

That’s the duality I believe you and I live most days: soft and unyielding. Graceful and fierce. The woman who’s done difficult things and refuses to pretend otherwise.

In 1890s Paris, the thistle became an Art Nouveau obsession. It represented resilience, protection, and defiance. In French folklore, thistles were believed to ward off negative energy—a talisman for those who’d been through the fire and came out changed.

North of the channel, the thistle carried even older power. It has been the emblem of Scotland since the 13th century, a symbol of fierce protective spirit. According to legend, a patch of thorny thistles saved sleeping Scottish warriors by stinging the feet of barefoot invading Norsemen, alerting the Scots to the surprise attack. Protection that doesn't ask permission. Defense that draws blood if necessary.

When you wear these, you're not hiding your edges. You're honoring them.

What makes these studs different:

Hand-pressed from reclaimed sterling silver using an antique French die from Villemin, Paris (1890s). The thistle’s sharp leaves and delicate bloom are rendered in exquisite detail—a perfect metaphor for strength and softness existing at once.

The patina finish adds depth and shadow, emphasizing the contrast between danger and grace.

Care:

Sterling silver naturally oxidizes. That's what "tarnish" is. The face of the earring has been processed with a protective coating to preserve the finish. To maintain the protection and the patina, avoid harsh chemicals like hairspray, gel, sunscreen. To brighten, dip in a bowl of mild soapy water and rinse. Don't soak. Dry gently with a soft cloth or paper towel. Brighten the back as needed with a silver polishing cloth. The more they are worn, the less they tarnish. To deepen the patina, wear them often—your skin’s natural oils will enhance the finish.
